Lisa Anne Kobdish

Artist in Residence

Lisa Anne Kobdish is honored to join the Eleven Eleven family! Lisa is a unicorn, born and raised in Austin, and received a BFA in Dance from the University of Texas. In 2011 she was granted the opportunity to train and perform with Transitions Dance Company while receiving an M.A. in Dance Performance from the Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance. During her studies and artistic development, Lisa based her master’s dissertation on the fusion of physical comedy practices with dance technique and is hoping to dig deeper into this research in her future.

After time abroad, Lisa relocated to NYC to collaborate on dance and film projects. She was lucky to perform with Kristin Sudeikis Dance in venues including BAM and Peridance Capezio Center, and helped produce an integrative dance film for the non-profit, art/activism project Semillas.

Since returning to Austin, Lisa's found a place with Kathy Dunn Hamrick Dance Company rehearsing and performing seasonally, and assisting administratively while Kathy produces Austin Dance Festival. When she's not instructing barre classes at Austin's own Dancers Shape or teaching youth dance with non-profit organization Leap of Joy, she's been honored to work with fierce Austin-based choreographers including Jennifer Sherburn (Riverside; Eleven Eleven series) and Rosalyn Nasky (Fusebox Festival 2017's Potential).
